I am excited to begin my 8th year at Rufino Tamayo as assistant principal. I began my career in education as a Teach For America corps member in Las Vegas. I spent my early career years teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. After 5 years in Nevada, I decided to return home to the Chicagoland area to be near family and continued teaching at the intermediate level. I then made the difficult decision to leave the classroom to become a dean of students. That road finally lead to Tamayo where I happily manage the academic programming and instruction, among other duties. I am especially passionate about infusing Social Emotional Learning into everyday instruction. In my spare time, I love to stay active, especially outdoors. You'd be surprised to learn I've backpacked through the Grand Canyon 5 times!

Estoy emocionada de comenzar mi octavo año en Rufino Tamayo como subdirectora. Comencé mi carrera en educación como miembro del cuerpo de Teach For America en Las Vegas. Pasé los primeros años de mi carrera enseñando a estudiantes de segundo y tercer grado. Después de 5 años en Nevada, decidí regresar a mi hogar en el área de Chicago para estar cerca de mi familia y continuar enseñando en el nivel intermedio. Entonces tomé la difícil decisión de dejar el salón de clases para convertirme en decano de estudiantes. Ese camino me lleva finalmente a Tamayo donde felizmente manejo la programación académica y la instrucción, entre otras funciones. Me apasiona especialmente infundir el aprendizaje socioemocional en la instrucción diaria. En mi tiempo libre, me encanta estar activa, especialmente al aire libre. ¡Te sorprendería saber que he viajado con mochila por el Gran Cañón 5 veces!
