Daniela Mladenovic, Academic Interventionist
M.Ed. Reading Specialist, Loyola University Chicago
The school year 2021-2022 marks my first year at Tamayo. However, it will be my 11th year as an academic interventionist at Acero! I enjoy teaching reading, and recently I have been keenly interested in supporting students with dyslexia. In my spare time, I like to jog by the lake and spend time with family and friends.
A few fun facts about me:
- My first teaching job at Acero Schools, that used to be UNO, was at the Tamayo campus! I taught ESL classes to Tamayo parents 14 years ago, back in 2007!
- I moved to the US from Serbia in 2006 after winning a green card at the lottery that my student played for me!
- I became a reading teacher at 7 years old. My grandma didn't have a chance to attend school when she was a girl, and I was the one to teach her to read and write, even though I was the last one of her ten grandchildren! I taught her how to write letters alright, but could not teach her to place space between the words, try as I might, so all her writing was one looong word :)
